Toshio Iwai (né en 1962) est un artiste japonais qui travaille sur de nombreuses installations interactives. On retrouve dans la plupart de ses œuvres une interaction entre son et visuel.
Même s'il n'est pas développeur de jeux vidéo, il a participé à quelques projets de jeux. Son premier est Otocky en 1987, puis il poursuit en 1996 par SimTunes où l'on retrouve le rapport entre musique et image qu'ont ses œuvres. Plus récemment, il entreprend la création du jeu Electroplankton sur Nintendo DS où le joueur doit faire réagir des planctons qui produisent des sons déterminés afin d'experimenter sans avoir de contraintes ou d'objectifs.
