Avraham David Horowitz

Avraham David Horowitz, (1911-2004), est un grand-rabbin français orthodoxe non-consistorial. Il officie à Strasbourg, dans la synagogue Adath-Israël.

Horowitz est rabbin de Oradea (Großwardein), en Transylvanie, Roumanie, avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il survit la Shoah et les camps de déportation. Toute sa famille est décimée.

Il devient après la guerre, et durant plus de trois décennies. rabbin de Adath-Israël et président du Tribunal rabbinique (Av Beth Din) de la Communauté de Strasbourg[1]. Il œuvre dans la Cacherouth et assure le rétablissement de la Mikvé.

Il est l'auteur d'un ouvrage majeur de Halakha: Kinyan Tora Bahalakha, qui contient des centaines de responsae écrites à des Juifs du monde entier.

Il devient Av Beth Din à la Eda Aharedit de Jérusalem.
