The Nature of Things est une émission de télévision canadienne de langue anglaise portant sur la science, et diffusée par la Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Toujours à l'affiche aujourd'hui, The Nature of Things fut présentée pour la première fois le 6 novembre 1960.

The Nature of Things fut animée tour à tour par Donald Crowdis, Patterson Hume, Donald Ivey et Lister Sinclair, mais le grand responsable de son succès est le docteur David Suzuki, vulgarisateur hors pair et grand défenseur de l'environnement, qui prit les commandes de l'émission en 1979.

Aujourd'hui intitulée The Nature of Things with David Suzuki, l'émission a remporté plusieurs prix au fil des ans, dont 3 prix Gemini au Canada. Elle peut aussi être vue dans de nombreux pays.

L'émission a été baptisée d'après un poème du philosophe Lucrèce: Dē Rērum Nātūrā" («de la nature des choses»).

Une émission de radio britannique portant le nom de The Nature of Things, aucunement liée à la série télévisée au Canada, a aussi existé sur les ondes de la BBC. C'est là qu'en 1950 le physicien anglais Fred Hoyle utilisa pour la première fois l'expression «Big Bang».
