Tennessee Volunteers est un club omnisports universitaire de l'Université du Tennessee. Les équipes des Volunteers participent aux compétitions universitaires organisées par la National Collegiate Athletic Association. Tennessee fait partie de la division Southeastern Conference.

Football américain

La plus fameuse équipe des Volunteers est celle de football américain qui fut quatre fois championne nationale (1938, 1950, 1951 et 1998). L'équipe évolue au Neyland Stadium, enceinte de 104 079 places (mais qui enregistre régulièrement des affluences de 107 000 spectateurs) inaugurée en 1929. Les grands rivaux des Volunteers sont les Alabama Crimson Tide. Ces deux formations s'affrontnent traditionnellemnt tous les troisièmes samedis d'octobre.

Basket-ball

L'autre équipe importante des Volunteers est celle de basket-ball féminine également surnommée « Lady Vols ». Son entraîneur Patricia Sue Head est en poste depuis 32 saisons à la tête de ce programme et affiche plus de 900 victoires, record NCAA du genre.
