Pour le groupe de
rock français actif de 2003 à 2008 sous le nom de The Swans, voir Les Meltones.
Swans était un groupe de rock expérimental, folk et industriel américain, actif entre 1982 et 1997, sous l'égide de Michael Gira, chanteur, compositeur multi-instrumentiste.
Le groupe se forme à New York en 1982 et connait de nombreux changements de personnel jusqu'à sa dissolution en 1997. Les membres qui restèrent le plus longtemps dans le groupe autour de Michael Gira furent la claviériste / chanteuse Jarboe et dans une certaine mesure le guitariste Norman Westberg.
Après presque 10 ans, Swans viennent d’annoncer leur reformation, ainsi que la sortie d'un single et d'un nouvel album.
