Un slipway ou slip (ou pente douce en français) est un plan incliné destiné à mettre à l'eau ou haler à sec les bateaux ou hydravions au moyen d'un chariot sur rails.
Le slipway est notamment utilisé dans le cadre de la réparation et construction navale. Il peut être « en long », c'est-à-dire perpendiculaire au rivage, ou « en travers », c'est-à-dire parallèle au rivage.
Autre sens
On appelle aussi slip le plan incliné au moyen duquel les baleines sont hissées sur le pont d'un navire-usine baleinier pour y être dépecées.
