Une shiksa (ou « shikse » - yiddish : שיקסע), désigne en yiddish une femme non-juive, plus spécifiquement une jeune fille fiancée ou mariée à un homme juif.
Le terme pourrait être dérivé du terme hébraïque sheketz, qui signifie « abomination »[1], « détestable », « haïssable » ou « souillure », selon le traducteur.
S'il est une insulte dans la bouche d'une mère juive, qui se demande ce qu'elle a fait au bon Dieu pour que cette shiksa tourne autour de son fils chéri, le terme, fréquemment employé par les Juifs d'Amérique du Nord, est passé dans le langage courant des Américains, où il est plutôt employé au second degré, ainsi que le démontrent les nombreux exemples tirés de la culture populaire.
