S&W Model 27
Le Smith & Wesson Model 27 est le revolver .357 Magnum original. Il a été d'abord été produit en 1935; la production a cessé en 1995. Elle a repris depuis, dans la série des Classics. Le Modèle 27 est construit sur la carcasse Smith & Wesson N en acier carbone et disponible avec 4 longueurs de canon et avec système de visée réglable. Il en exista une version destinée aux polices autoroutières US (dont la California Highway Patrol) : le Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman, produit de 1954 à 1986. Ce M28 avait une finition moins soignée (bronzage satin blue et tranche de la carcasse sablée) et deux longueurs de canons seulement

Apparitions dans la fiction
Le S&W M27 apparait dans Le point de non-retour de John Boorman Le Choix des armes d'Alain Corneau, Bad Boys de Michael Bay et Payback de Brian Helgeland, Un tueur pour cible d'Antoine Fuqua au cinéma. Le romancier Kââ le fait employer par un de ses personnages de ses polars. Quant au M28, c'est l'arme du père de V.I. Warshawski dans le film Un privé en escarpins, il apparait aussi dans les romans "l'executeur" dans les mains de soldats de la mafia .
