Enzyme de la grande famille des kinases, l'aspartate kinase catalyse la transformation de l'aspartate en aspartylphosphate. Il existe 3 isoenzymes connus chez E. coli. Elle est régulée de façon allostérique par L-Thr et L-Lys.
