Biographie

Le 2 juin 2011 il signe à Schalke 04, son club formateur, dans le but de remplacer Manuel Neuer parti au Bayern Munich.

Le 23 juillet 2011 il dispute son premier match officiel avec son nouveau club face au Borussia Dortmund, il réalise une performance exceptionnelle et offre à Schalke 04 la première Supercoupe d'Allemagne de son histoire en arrêtant deux tirs aux buts. Après le match, il monte dans une tribune du Veltins Arena et est applaudi par tous les supporters de Schalke 04.
