Rail West! est un jeu vidéo de gestion sorti en 1984 sur Apple II. Développé et édité par SSI, le jeu a été conçu par Martin Campion.
Thème
L'année est 1870. Juste l'année précédente, les réseaux de l'Union Pacific et la Central Pacific se rencontrent en Utah pour le premier grand transcontinental. Maintenant Rail West! permet d'éprouver l'expérience excitante mais risquée du développement ferroviaire dans l'ouest des États-Unis d'Amérique.
En empruntant auprès des banques ou en vendant des actions on peut commencer sa propre société ferroviaire. Ou on peut acheter suffisamment d'actions d'une entreprise existante pour en prendre le contrôle, et notamment faire la fusion avec une autre. La situation économique globale du pays a une très forte influence sur les affaires et mène rapidement à la faillite pour ceux avec une position trop risquée.
En retournant la disquette on peut voir les réseaux s'étendre progressivement.
