Driouch

Driouch (ادريوش) est une ville située à 60 km au sud ouest de la ville de Nador, dans la région du Rif ( Maroc ), sa population est de 28.000 habitants dont la majorité d'entre eux est berbèrophone,les plus nombreux sont les familles du tribu de Mtalsa (Ibdarsen). Durant ces dernières décennies,l'immigration de l'est du Maroc vers la région rifaine de la province de Nador a considérablement changé l'aspect démographique de Driouch

Histoire

Historiquement, Driouch fut connue pour l'importance de son rôle qu'il a joué lors de la guerre du rif (1921 à 1926) et contre l'occupation espagnole, sous le commandement du chef révolutionnaire l'Emir Mohammed Ben Abdelkrim Al-Jattabi, premier et certainement le dernier président de la République Confédérale du Rif, avant son annexion avec le Maroc en 1926. La présence espagnole à Driouch peut actuellement encore être observée. L'ancien marché espagnol, l'église catholique "al kanisa" , le couvent espagnol, le pont de la rivière "oued"Kerd, l'ancien parc central, etc..., rappellent le passé espagnol de la ville.

Driouch a fait valoir en 1975 à des centaines de réfugiés marocains expulsés par le gouvernement de l'Algérie lors la crise du Sahara Occidental, sa majorité habite le quartier populaire Qishla, Rabâine dar (les 40 maisons).
