Taxe de vente du Québec
La taxe de vente du Québec (abrégée en TVQ) est le montant perçu sur les produits et les services dans la province du Québec. C'est l'équivalent provincial de la TPS.
Elle est de 7,5 % mais est calculée sur le prix du produit ou service additionné de la TPS, qui, elle, vaut actuellement 5 %. La combinaison des deux taxes donne ainsi 12,875 %.
Histoire
La TVQ fut introduite par le gouvernement Libéral en 1990 et instaurée dans la controverse, car le ministre du Revenu de l'époque, M. Yves Séguin, démissionna en protestation à l'adoption de cette taxe.[1]
