Pyotr Ivanovich Kafarov
Pyotr Ivanovich Kafarov (Пётр Ива́нович Кафа́ров), également connu de son nom monastique Palladiy (Палла́дий), (1817 – 1878), fut un sinologue russe.
Comme son professeur Ioakinf Bichurin, Palladiy fut un moine orthodoxe. Au cours de son séjour en Chine, il découvrit et publia de nombreux manuscrits inédits, dont l' Histoire secrète des Mongols.
Kafarov conçut un système de cyrillisation pour la langue chinoise (connu dorénavant sous le terme de système Palladiy) qui est le système de transcription officiel du chinois en Russie.
