Guerres proxy
Une guerre proxy (ou "guerre par proxy") est une guerre où deux pouvoirs utilisent une tierce partie comme supplément ou substitut pour se battre chacun directement.
Si les superpuissances ont parfois utilisé des gouvernements comme proxies, des groupes terroristes ou autres tiers parties sont plus souvent employés.
Il est presque impossible d'avoir une guerre proxy pure, car les groupes se battant pour un certain superpouvoir ont normalement leur propres intérêts, qui diffèrent de ceux de la puissance tutélaire. Par exemple, après la Guerre d'Afghanistan en 1979, certains groupes qui avaient reçu l'aide des États-Unis se sont plus tard tourné contre eux en devenant les points centraux des Talibans et de Al-Qaida .
