Un plot de fondation est un ouvrage d'infrastructure qui reprend les charges ponctuelles d'un organe de structure d'une construction (par exemple : poteau, pilier ,colonne) et qui transmet et répartit ces charges sur le sol (fond de coffre ou niveau d'assise).

Anglicisme
En anglais, plot a plusieurs sens. Il est utilisé en français pour désigner un synopsis, la ligne directrice d'une histoire. On utilise aussi le terme metaplot, qui désigne un contexte, une toile de fond — histoire, personnages, lieux — chapeautant plusieurs œuvres ; méta étant un préfixe de généralisation, on pourrait le traduire par « synopsis général ».
