Patrick Murphy est un citoyen des États-Unis qui, au printemps 1929, perpétra une attaque aérienne sur la ville de Naco dans l'état de Sonora au Mexique.
L'attaque avait été commanditée par des rebelles mexicains, qui souhaitaient détruire la partie mexicaine de Naco pour s'en emparer. Murphy accepta, il se tenait dans un bar de Bisbee, Arizona, avant l'attaque. Il partit à bord de son avion d'épandage en emmenant des valises chargées de dynamites et de boulons, ferrailles, clous. Il les largua sur la ville, qu'il détruisit en partie (notamment un garage et une entreprise minière), mais sur le sol américain (État d'Arizona).
Une rumeur, sujette à controverse, prétend qu'il était alors saoul.
Il est le premier homme à avoir attaqué les États-Unis par les airs.
