Parren James Mitchell (né le 29 avril 1922 à Baltimore, États-Unis et mort le 28 mai 2007 au Greater Baltimore Medical Center à Baltimore, États-Unis), est un homme politique américain. Représentant démocrate du 7e district du Maryland de 1971 à 1987.

Biographie

Parren Mitchell né le 29 avril 1922 à Baltimore aux États-Unis. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il sert comme officier dans 92e division d'infanterie. Blessé durant la guerre, il est décoré de la Purple Heart.

Rentré de la guerre, il obtient un Bachelor et une maîtrise à l'Université du Maryland.

Il est le frère de l'activiste Clarence M. Mitchell, qui fut chef de la NAACP et conseiller du président Lyndon Johnson.

En 1971, il est élu Représentant du 7e district du Maryland devant le premier afro-américain élu au Congrès des États-Unis du Maryland.

Hospitalisé depuis une semaine au Greater Baltimore Medical Center, il meurt le 28 mai 2007 d'une pneumonie.
