Nicétas Budka

Bienheureux Nicétas Budka (7 juin 1877 - 1er octobre 1949) était le premier évêque de l'Église grecque-catholique ukrainienne à servir dans les missions ukrainiennes du Canada. Il a été ordonné prêtre en 1905. Il a été nommé évêque de ce qui est maintenant l'archéparchie catholique ukrainienne de Winnipeg le 15 juillet 1912 et a été consacré le 14 octobre cette année. Revenu à Lviv pour servir à titre de vicaire général de la Curie métropolitaine, il fut arrêté le 11 avril 1945 et envoyé dans les camps soviétiques, où il mourut en martyr en 1949. Il a été béatifié le 27 juin 2001 par le pape Jean-Paul II.
