Mo' Wax

Mo' Wax est un label britannique de musique, en particulier de trip-hop et d'abstract hip-hop créé au début des années 1990. Il a été fondé par James Lavelle. Mo'wax a pas mal perdu de sa superbe dans les années 2000, alors qu'il était considéré comme le nec plus ultra dans les années 90, mais il existe toujours et fait maintenant partie du label indépendant Beggars Group, après avoir été surtout distribué en France par Source, division du groupe Virgin. La création du studio est considéré par certains comme les prémices de la scène d'abstract hip-hop, et reconnu comme le noyau principal durant les années 1990.

Parmi les artistes du label, on pourra citer DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, La Funk Mob, Money Mark, Attica Blues, ou encore Blackalicious.

Les compîlations "Headz" et "Headz 2" sorties respectivement en 1994 et 1997 permettent de se faire une idée du son défendu par le label, et réserve quelques surprises, puisqu'Autechre, généralement classé electronica, y figure.
