Mercy Arms est un groupe d'indie rock originaire de Sydney en Australie. Il est formé de Thom Moore, Kirin J. Callinan, Ash Moss et Julian Sudek.

Histoire

Le groupe s'est formé en 2005 quand Thom rencontra Kirin et Julian[1] qui sont amis d'enfance[2]. Ash Moss joint le groupe peu après[3]. Le groupe joua son premier concert en avril 2005, quelques jours après leur première répétition[4].

2006 vu le groupe parcourir l'Australie avec The Strokes, enregistrer deux titres avec Dave Sitek de TV on the Radio, et après d'âpres négociations, finalement signer avec Capitol Records aux USA. Cependant, le contrat eu la vie courte, et 2007 vu le groupe rompre avec Capitol après sa fusion avec Virgin. Le groupe fit les tournées avec les Pixies, Editors, Cut Copy, Wolf & Cub et the Horrors, et ont joué à Sydney et à Gold Coast, pieds a terre du V Festival. Le 1er disque du groupe, l'EP Kept Low, fut enregistré et sorti en aout 2007 à Levity en Australie.

L'album éponyme, est sorti en Australie de façon indépendante en aout 2008, ils ont collaboré avec le producteur Tony Cohen et l'album a été mixé à Melbourne avec Tony Espie[5].

Les Mercy Arms sont en froid depuis février 2009 après la tournée du Big Day Out. C'est avant tout à cause de différents artistiques entre Kirin et Thom. Ils ont tous de nouveaux projets, Kirin et Julian jouent dans 'Fashion Launchers Rocket Launchers', Kirin se produit aussi en solo comme 'Kirin J. Callinan', Ash Moss joue de la basse pour le groupe 'Faker' et Thom a un nouveau groupe 'Canvas Kites'.
