Mercure (entreprise)
La chaîne d'hôtels Mercure a été créée en 1973 avec pour objectif d'offrir des services hôteliers axés sur la personnalisation et l'accueil. Rachetée en 1975 par le groupe Accor, elle en est actuellement l'une des composantes.
Histoire
En 1973 à Saint-Witz est créé le tout premier hôtel Mercure. Dès 1975, Novotel SIEH, futur groupe Accor, rachète la marque et commence à développer le concept. Au bout de 5 ans, la marque Mercure regroupe déjà 32 hôtels différents en France. Ce n'est qu'en 1983 qu'elle sort des frontières françaises en s'exportant en Allemagne, Autriche, Belgique et Pays-Bas. À la fin de cette année, la marque regroupe 50 hôtels. En 1989, soit seize ans après la création, le 100e hôtel Mercure est inauguré à Bruxelles. En 1991, la marque Mercure s'agrandit, englobant désormais les hôtels précédemment connus sous le nom « Altéa ». En 1992, Mercure compte dans son parc hôtelier 200 hôtels dans 12 pays différents d'Europe. En 2003, pour les 20 ans de la marque, Mercure compte plus de 700 hôtels dans 47 pays différents.
