Meet-up. adj. (angl. to meet up, faire connaissance). Se dit d'une soirée de réseautage social, centrée, pour les participants, sur un ou plusieurs centres d'intérêt communs. La rencontre découle d'une mise en relation électronique en amont, initiée depuis une communauté virtuelle (opp. meet-down). || Polit. L'Américain Howard Dean, candidat Démocrate malheureux à l'élection présidentielle primaire de 2004, a exagérément fondé ses espoirs sur des soirées meet-up, pour transformer les sympathisants de sa présence électronique (sites, forums) en prescripteurs véritables, actifs dans leurs communautés respectives. Le virtuel est resté virtuel.
