Un andisol, ou andosol, est un sol humique peu évolué de montagne comportant :

  • un horizon supérieur riche en matière organique ;
  • un roche mère d'origine voclanique.

On trouve ce type de sol en Auvergne.

Qualités agronomiques

De par son origine volcanique, l'andisol est riche en silicate d'aluminium amorphe (non-cristallisé), l'ion Al3+ combiné avec la matière organique forme un complexe stable qui bloque son évolution (allophane). C'est un sol très fertile.

De plus le matériau originel est meuble et très poreux, il présente donc : des conditions favorables à l'enracinement, une bonne réserve hydrique, et se travaille très bien.
