The Lancet
The Lancet est une revue scientifique médicale britannique, publiée à un rythme hebdomadaire par the Lancet Publishing Group. Il doit son nom à l'instrument chirurgical appelé lancette (en anglais : lancet), sorte de scalpel. Le rédacteur en chef actuel s'appelle Richard Horton.
Il existe diverses éditions spécialisées de The Lancet ; elles sont appelées :
Le site internet www.thelancet.com a été lancé en 1996 avec l'intégralité des articles en ligne (sur abonnement pour les plus récents) depuis mars 1998.
Le premier numéro date du 5 octobre 1823 et a été lancé par Thomas Wakley qui édite la revue jusqu'à sa mort[1].
