L'Amentia est un concept psychanalytique. Le terme désigne les processus du rêve appliqués dans un but explicatif aux périodes de confusion hallucinatoire aiguë dans la maladie mentale.
D'après Freud : "lorsque l'on perd un objet essentiel, il arrive qu'on rêve, qu'on hallucine sa présence. Une absence insuportable est compensée par la réalisation hallucinatoire".[réf. nécessaire]
