KGS est un serveur de go grâce auquel il est possible de jouer en ligne contre des adversaires du monde entier depuis l'année 2000.

Il est disponible en français, ainsi qu'en de nombreuses autres langues.

À l'origine KGS étaient les initiales de "Kiseido Go Server", mais le nom a changé en septembre 2006 en "Kgs Go Server". (kiseido est une compagnie qui publie des livres sur le go et vend des articles de go)

Le client de ce serveur est actuellement Cgoban 3 qui édite des fichiers au format SGF. Il est aussi possible de se connecter au serveur depuis une interface web.

La création d'un compte est gratuite. Cependant elle n'est pas nécessaire, il est possible de jouer ou de regarder des parties d'autres joueurs sans s'enregistrer.

Une inscription payante à KGS plus permet de financer le serveur. Cette inscription donne le droit à des cours en ligne (français et anglais) ainsi qu'à des tournois réservés.

Des cours pour débutants en français sont proposés gratuitement de façon bihebdomadaire.
