Les Kiffians étaient des chasseurs ayant colonisé le désert de Ténéré, dans la partie centrale du Sahara, durant sa période humide, il y a de 10 000 à 8 000 ans. Les Kiffians mesuraient jusqu'à 1 m 80. De longues perches munies de harpon ont été retrouvés sur le site par des archéologues américains.
