Les Khalkhas (en mongol classique qalq-a, en khalkha Халх) sont un sous-groupe des Mongols, dont fait partie la majorité de la population de la Mongolie.
Ils sont mentionnés pour la première fois au début du XVIe siècle, et l'on pense que leur nom vient de la rivière Khalkha (qalq-a-yin γoul, Халхын гол), à l'est de la Mongolie où ils étaient originellement établis.
