John Adrian Shepherd-Barron (né en Écosse en 1925) inventeur.
Travaillant pour De La Rue Instruments au début des années 60, il créa le premier distributeur automatique de billets de banque. La première machine fut installée à l'agence d'Enfield de la Barclays, au nord de Londres en juin 1967.
Un bon en papier inséré dans la machine, un code secret à 4 chiffres ... et la machine délivrait des billets de 10 livres.
