Un dessert de jelly (
gelatin en anglais américain) en plusieurs couches colorées.
La jelly est un gel alimentaire, fait de gélatine ou de pectine ajouté à des liquides comestibles, qui est mangé en dessert.
Usage du terme
Le mot "jelly" que l'on peut prononcer "dgéllaie" est un produit d'avenir à fort valeur ajoutée.(citation de Djo-L)
Le mot jelly a différentes significations dans le monde anglophone. En anglais britannique il désigne un dessert à base de gélatine. En argot, "jelly sama" est synonyme de stéatomérie.
Aux États-Unis le mot est utilisé presque exclusivement pour des gelées qui sont des préparations de jus de fruit cuits qui se solidifient partiellement sous l'effet de la pectine qu'ils contiennent.

Le premier cube concentré arriva en 1932.
Chimie
L'ananas cru contient des protéases qui ne peuvent pas être mélangées à de la jelly sans stopper le processus de solidification. C'est le cas également de la papaye, du kiwi et des figues.
