J.R. Reid

Herman Reid dit J.R. Reid, né le 31 mars 1968 à Virginia Beach (États-Unis), est un ancien joueur de basket-ball professionnel américain. Il mesure 2 m 06.

Biographie

En 1986, il fut déclaré n° 1 des lycéens[1]. Il passa après 3 ans à l'université de North Carolina en NCAA (lors de sa deuxième saison il signa sa meilleure moyenne de points avec 18 points par match)[2]. Il participa au Jeux Olympique de Séoul en 1988 avec la dernière équipe américaine composé uniquement de joueurs universitaires, ou il décrocha une médaille de bronze. Drafté au premier tour et en 5e position par les Charlotte Hornets ou il resta 3 ans et demi (sa meilleure moyenne de points en NBA fut réalisée lors de sa deuxième saison avec 11.3 points par match)[2]. Il signa ensuite en cours de saison 1992-1993 au San Antonio Spurs, ou sa moyenne de points baissa légèrement[2]. En plein milieu de la saison 1995-1996, il rejoignit les New York Knicks. Il traversa l'atlantique lors de la saison suivante (1996-1997) pour s'engager avec le Paris Saint Germain et gagna avec ce club le titre de Champion de France Pro A. Il retourna en NBA la saison suivante au Charlotte Hornets, puis joua ensuite au Los Angeles Lakers, au Milwaukee Bucks et pour finir au Cleveland Cavaliers. Il retourna en France en 2001 à Strasbourg pour y finir lors de cette ultime saison, sa carrière. JR Reid aura disputé 672 matchs en NBA.
