Islamic Human Rights Commission

Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) est une organisation à but non lucratif qui milite contre les violations de la Déclaration des droits de l'homme en islam envers les musulmans. Elle est basée à Londres et a été créée en 1997. Depuis qu'un documentaire diffusé sur la BBC, le 15 juillet 2004, a mis à jour les très fortes opinions anti-islamiques au sein du parti d'extrême-droite British National Party, la IHRC a fait campagne pour l'interdiction de ce parti IHRC - Press Release: BNP Fascists Must be Banned .

L'organisation pointe chaque année ce qui constitue pour elle des dérives islamophobes, à travers les Annual Islamophobia Awards.

En 2004, l'organisation milite au nom de la lutte contre l'islamophobie contre le projet de loi française sur la laïcité interdisant le port de signes religieux ostentatoires dans les établissements scolaires publics. Dans un communiqué de presse titré "La France, un nouveau pays taliban sécularisé en Europe", elle déclare :

“This ban gives an excuse to Islamophobes all over the world to come out of the woodwork and legitimise attacks on Muslims in the name of freedom. The French government has undoubtedly become the secular Taliban state of Europe, denying Muslim girls the right to education and work and now the right to marry.

Ce qui peut se traduire par :

Cette interdiction donne une excuse à tous les islamophobes dans le monde pour sortir du bois et légitimise les attaques contre les musulmans au nom de la liberté. Le gouvernement français constitue incontestablement un État taliban sécularisé en Europe, déniant aux filles musulmanes leur droit à l'éducation, au travail, et maintenant au mariage.
