Une invocation (du latin : latin, invoquer, appeler) est l'action de demander de l'aide, du secours par une prière à Dieu, un saint, une divinité, un génie, un esprit… Ce terme fort est surtout utilisé dans un contexte religieux ou spirituel.
Autres utilisation du terme
Le terme invocation est souvent utilisé dans les jeux vidéo (notamment les RPG), pour désigner l'utilisation d'une magie, mais plus spécialement d'une créature que l'on appelle pour de l'aide, comme par exemple dans le jeu Final Fantasy. Ces créatures sont associés à des éléments (eau, terre, feu, etc...), étant donc des sortes de divinités païennes reprenant parfois les mythes et légendes du monde antique.
