Het ou Heth est le second fils de Canaan (Gn X,15). Il serait le descendant des Hethéens (Hittites ? Hattis ?), l'une des sept tribus du pays de Canaan évoqués dans le Deutéronome (Dt VII,1).

Au chapitre 23 de la Genèse (parashat Hayei Sarah), Abraham achète à Hébron (« Ephron le Hethéen »), le champ où se trouve la caverne de Makhpela (se trouvant aujourd'hui dans le Tombeau des Patriarches) où il va ensevelir son épouse Sarah et constituer ainsi un sépulcre familial.
