Jadis, le bourg de Girvan (South Ayrshire, Écosse) était synonyme des entours d'un arbre connu sous le nom de Hairy Tree (Arbre chevelu) : D'après la légende, le Hairy Tree fut planté par l'aînée des filles de Sawney Bean. Lors de l'arrestation de sa famille, elle fut impliquée dans le procès et pendue à une branche de son arbre.
Légende
Il est dit que l'on peut toujours entendre le son d'un corps pendu lorsque l'on se tient sous le Hairy Tree. Sa localisation reste inconnue.
