Gottfried von Straßburg

Gottfried von Straßburg (né à Strasbourg vers 1180 - vers 1215) était l'un des meilleurs poètes allemands du Moyen Âge.

Les dates de sa naissance et de sa mort sont inconnues, mais il était le contemporain de Walther von der Vogelweide, de Hartmann von Aue et de Wolfram von Eschenbach, et son épique Tristan et Isold a été écrit autour de l'année 1210.

L'histoire de Tristan avait évolué de ses origines celtiques (Tristan et Iseut) ombragées par les trouvères français du XIIe siècle, et avait déjà réussi à pénétrer en Allemagne avant que la fin du siècle, dans la version brute et non polie de Eilhart Oberge.
