Caecilius - aveugle en latin - était le nomen d'une ancienne famille noble plébéienne romaine, la gens Caecilia. Cette famille prétendait descendre du héros Caeculus, fondateur de Préneste, ou encore de Caecas, compagnon d'Énée.
Les cognomens de cette famille sont Basus, Denter, Metellus, Niger, Pina et Rupus parmi lesquels les Caecilii Metelli constituèrent la branche la plus importante.
