La friend zone (aussi appelée friendship zone) désigne généralement le moment où un homme intéressé par une femme devient son ami, perdant ainsi tout intérêt (au niveau sentimental ou sexuel) aux yeux de celle-ci. L'homme se retrouve alors coincé dans cet état, sans possibilité d'évoluer vers un couple (d'où l'expression : « Keep telling yourself it's better than nothing », « Continue de te dire que c'est mieux que rien »).
