François Philippe Charpentier
François Philippe Charpentier, inventeur français, né à Blois en 1734, mort en 1817.
On lui doit des machines à scier, à forer les canons de fusil ; de nouveaux systèmes de pompe à feu, d'éclairage, de signaux pour phare ; mais il est surtout connu pour avoir inventé la manière de graver au lavis sur cuivre, dite manière noire. Comme la plupart des inventeurs, il vécut dans la gêne.
