Le Flatiron Building (en français, "l'immeuble en forme de fer à repasser") est un immeuble de bureaux à New York, dans le quartier de Midtown, au carrefour de la 23e rue, 5e avenue et Broadway, face à Madison Square. Il compte 22 étages et mesure 87 mètres de hauteur. Cet immeuble a donné son nom au quartier qui l'entoure, le Flatiron District.
Histoire
Le Flatiron Building est aussi connu sous le nom de Fuller Building. Contrairement à la croyance populaire, il n'a jamais été le plus haut, mais il était l'un des plus hauts gratte-ciel de Manhattan lors de son achèvement en 1902. L'immeuble est construit selon un plan triangulaire, dessiné par l'architecte américain Daniel Burnham, qui appartenait à l'école de Chicago. Ce dernier a choisi le style Beaux-Arts et développé les ordres grecs classiques. Les trois façades sont divisées horizontalement en trois parties. Le Flatiron building fut construit en deux ans. Il pèse environ 332 000 tonnes et vaut plus de 40 millions de $.
