Flaithbertach mac Loingsig roi de Tir Conaill et Ard ri Érenn de 728-734.
Biographie
Flaithbertach étiat le fils de l’Ard ri Érenn Loingsech mac Oengusso du Cenél Conaill issu des Ui Neill du nord.
Flathbertach après avoir succédé à son frère Fergal à la tête du Cenél Conaill, obtient le titre d’Ard ri Érenn après avoir vaincu et tué Cinaed mac Irgalaig du Síl nÁedo Sláine des Uí Neill du sud à la bataille de Druin Corcain en 728[1].
La souveraineté de Flaithbertach fut rapidement contestée par le clan rival du Cenél nÉogain des Ui Neill du nord. Battu dans plusieurs combats en 732[2] et 733 [3], Flaithbertach fut détrôné ou abdiqua dès 734[4] en faveur d'Áed Allán fils ainé de l'ancien Ard ri Érenn Fergal mac Máele Dúin. Il se retira au monastère d’Armagh où il mourut en 765[5].
Flaithbertach fut le dernier membre du Cenél Conaill à obtenir le titre d’Ard ri Erenn.

De son union avec Muirenn fille de Cellach Cualan roi des Ui Mail il laissa plusieurs enfants :
