First National Pictures

La First National Pictures, souvent appelé First National, était une association de propriétaires de salles de cinéma aux États-Unis. Cette association avait pour but d'étendre la distribution de films et éventuellement de produire des films. Plus tard, l'association s'associera à Warner Bros..

La First National fut fondé en 1917 par 26 propriétaires de cinéma américains, certains d'entre eux possédant plus de 600 salles.

La First National fut promu par Thomas L. Tally, qui réagissait à la montée de l'influence de la Paramount Pictures, qui allait dominer le marché sous peu. En 1912, il fut aidé par James Dixon Williams, et ils formèrent ensemble la First National Exhibitors Circuit.

Entre 1917 et 1918, ils signèrent plusieurs contrats, dont un avec Charlie Chaplin. Ce contrat était le premier de l'histoire du cinéma à s'élever à plus d'un million de dollars.
