Emomalii Rahmon (né le 5 octobre 1952), est le Président du Tadjikistan depuis 1994 qui était à cette époque en proie d'une guerre civile meurtrière née au lendemain de l'indépendance du Tadjikistan entre 1991 et 1997. Il brigue à nouveau la présidence à l'élection de 2006 mais son régime doit faire face à une situation économique et sociale difficile.

Changement de nom

À l'origine citoyen soviétique, son nom en cyrillique russe est Imamali Charipovitch Rakhmanov (Имамали Шарипович Рахманов) ou sous sa forme tadjike Emomali Charifovitch Rahmonov (Эмомалӣ Шарифович Раҳмонов) ; mais la forme hybride Emomali Charifovitch Rakhmonov (Эмомали Шарифович Рахмонов) est la plus souvent employée dans les textes en russe. Son nom signifie « Imam Ali, fils de Charif, (descendant) de (Abd-el-)Rahman ».

Il annonce[1] en mars 2007 son souhait de donner à son nom la forme plus tadjike d'Emomalii Rahmon (Эмомалии Раҳмон). La terminaison -ov d'origine russe du nom de famille, qui indiquait une notion d'appartenance est remplacée par la terminaison -i sur le prénom qui indique la même chose.[2]

Le site[3] officiel du président tadjik écrit son nom Эмомалии Раҳмон (Emomalii Rahmon) dans toutes les dépêches et informations publiées à partir du 21 mars 2007 inclus, mais continue d'employer la forme Эмомалӣ Раҳмонов (Emomali Rahmonov) dans les textes datés jusqu'au 20 mars.

  2. ↑ Cette terminaison, appelée izofa en tadjik, est prononcée i après une consonne et yi après une voyelle comme c'est le cas ici. Elle correspondant à l'ézafé du persan et ne sert que de liaison entre deux mots (nom+adjectif, nom+complément de nom, etc.) Utilisé seul, ce prénom retrouve donc la forme Эмомалӣ Emomali. Dans l'orthographe tadjike, la barre sur le ӣ indique quand un и placé à la fin d'un mot est un i normal et non un izofa. Cette barre s'enlève donc si l'ajout d'une terminaison fait que le и n'est plus à la fin du mot.
