Egernia major
L' egernia major constitue la plus grande espèce de scinques de la famille des Scincidae vivant en Australie.
Ce grand lézard peut mesurer jusqu'à 75 centimètres de long. Il possède une peau noire ou brune foncée brillante avec un anneau plus pâle autour des yeux ; le ventre apparaît blanc, jaune ou marron. Il émet une odeur désagréable lorsqu'il se sent menacé. Il demeure peu farouche.
On le retrouve dans les forêts humides du sud du Queensland et du nord de la Nouvelle-Galles du Sud.
