Mengxi Bitan
Mengxi Bitan (hanyu pinyin: Meng Bi Tan Xi ; Wade-Giles : Meng Ch'i Pi T'an ; chinois : 梦溪笔谈/梦溪笔谈 ; anglais : Dream Pool Essays) est un livre écrit par le polymathe Shen Kuo (1031-1095) en 1088 durant la dynastie des Song (960-1279) de Chine.
Bien que Shen soit un fonctionnaire du gouvernement de grande renommée et général militaire, il a compilé cet énorme travail par écrit à sa retraite, lorsqu'il s'est isolé dans son domaine près de l'actuelle Zhenjiang, dans la province du Jiangsu.
L'appellation anglaise reprend le nom qu'il donna à ce domaine, « Dream Brook » (« Petit ruisseau de rêve »). Mais le sens littéral traduit est « Discussions de pinceau depuis un petit ruisseau de rêve » (« Brush Talks from a Dream Brook »), dont l'origine s'explique par le fait que Shen n'avait que son pinceau et son encre avec qui converser.
