Downset est un groupe de Hardcore Fusion originaire de Los Angeles. Le groupe fondé en 1987 s'appelait au départ "Social Justice", il prit le nom de Downset en 1992.

Leur premier album Unity Is Strength est sorti en 1989. Le titre Anger, paru en 1994 sur l'album Downset. a connu un certain succès. Downset est considéré comme un des premiers groupes à mélanger des influences Hip-hop au Hardcore.
