Diane Johnson, née le 28 avril 1934 à Moline, dans l'Illinois, est une romancière essayiste et critique américaine, spécialiste universitaire du roman gothique.
Elle est co-sénariste du film Shining réalisé par Stanley Kubrick en 1980.
Partageant sa vie entre San Francisco et Paris, ses romans racontent souvent les histoires de jeunes Américaines dans la capitale française. En 2003, sa nouvelle, Le divorce, écrit en 1997, est adapté au cinéma par le réalisateur James Ivory avec, dans les rôles principaux, Kate Hudson et Naomi Watts.
