Dawes Act

Dawes Act

Le Dawes Act est une loi des États-Unis du 8 février 1887 réglementant la distribution des terres aux Amérindiens en Territoire Indien qui deviendra l'Oklahoma en 1907. Elle porte le nom du sénateur du Massachusetts Henry L. Dawes qui en fut le principal initiateur. La loi fut amendée en 1891 et en 1906 par le Burke Act. Elle resta en application jusqu'en 1934.
