Cousin William est une série télévisée pédagogique française de 100 épisodes de treize minutes environ (en anglais non sous-titré), créée par Yves Lavandier en 1992, et diffusée sur France 3 et La Cinquième à des heures matinales. Destinée à toute personne souhaitant améliorer sa pratique de la langue anglaise, elle regroupe fiction, cours d'enseignement, reportages sur le Royaume-Uni et jeux d'évaluation.
Synopsis
Cousin William raconte les déboires d'un informaticien anglais, Larry, qui voit débarquer dans son quotidien un ancêtre du Moyen Âge prénommé William. Tandis que William découvre avec ravissement et maladresse la civilisation moderne, Larry s'efforce de cacher l'origine de son "cousin", gérer ses frasques et le renvoyer d'où il vient. Le traitement, humoristique, rappelle Les Visiteurs, sorti un an après, ou encore Un Yankee à la cour du roi Arthur, publié 103 ans avant.
